SARAH LUELLA MCKINNEY
Sarah Luella Adams was born December 12, 1860 in Moultrie County, Illinois and died May 4, 1917 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Schroeder, Colby, Kansas, at the age of 66 years, 4 months and 22 days.
She was united in marriage with Williamson McKinney, February 25, 1877 at Shelbyville, Illinois. To this union were born four children, the eldest dying in infancy, Daniel Webster McKinney, whose death occurred in November 1916, and two daughters, Mrs. E.C. White of Menlo and Mrs. J.H. Schroeder of Colby, Kansas. Mrs McKinney's husband proceeded her in death on Sept. 12, 1926.
Mrs. McKinney spent her early life in Illinois, uniting with the Methodist church in Shelbyville. She remained a loyal member during her lifetime. After her marriage she undertook with her husband the pioneer experiences of western Nebraska and Kansas, returning later to make their home in Chicago, Ill. after which they came again to Kansas, settling in Thomas County. For the past eighteen years she has lived at Menlo and Colby.
Mrs McKinney has been in ill health for several months and has been lovingly attended at the home of her daughter. She leaves her two daughters, five grandchildren, other relatives and her many friends to morn their loss.
The funeral services were held by Rev. Templin at the home of Mrs. Henry Schroeder, Saturday afternoon. A short service was conducted at the Menlo Cemetery while some old family, friends had gathered for the burial.
