Rick L. Hires, age 55, of Springfield, passed away Sunday, April 30 in his home. He was born October 23, 1950, in Branson, the son of Jack and Juanita (Williams) Hires. In 1969 he graduated from Nixa High School. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Mr. Hires retired as a maintenance foreman for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. He was a member of The Brotherhood of Maintenance Way. Survivors include: three daughters, Megan Merz and Mark, Springfield, Sarah Hires and William Albin, Nixa, and Addrianna Jones and Anthony, Springfield; 11 grandchildren; his father, Jack Hires Sr., Springfield; a sister, Helen Jones and husband, Doyle, Nixa; a brother, Jack Hires Jr. and wife, Vanda, Ozark; and the mother of his children, Theresa Hires. He was preceded in death by his mother, Juanita, and two infant brothers. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 4, in Helphrey Cemetery, northeast of Taneyville, with Warren Matlock officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Harry S. Truman Chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association, Hollister. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. www.adamsfuneralhome.net
