"Up to two o'clock this afternoon the body of Cyril Hopkins Carlston, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Carlston, one of the two Biloxi youths who were drowned yesterday morning when they abandoned their disabled boat, Avalra, off the end of the East Howard avenue and attempted to swim about a half mile into shore, was not located. Boats continued their efforts to recover the body by use of trawls, while others worked with oyster tongs and drag lines. A large shrimping seine also was brought into use this morning. Young Carlson, who was 17 years old, leaves besides his parents, a brother, Junior Carlston and a sister, Maize Carlston, his grandmother, Mrs. Hopkins, and two uncles. The body of Francis Ladnier was recovered near the Ott Oyster Co., pier several hundred yards from the spot where the youths were last seen by Leo Taconia nd Alric Knebel who had tried to rescue them from their plight before the drowning. He was caught in a trawl, pulled by the power boat, Velma R., owned and in charge of Capt. Herman Ryan, yesterday afternoon about four o'clock. An inquest was held with Judge George B. Wink as acting coroner, Felix Mattina, constable, and John Ewing, William Cruso, Frank Conway, Henry Westbrook, Eugene Ryan and Charles DeJean, members of the jury. The verdict (was) accidental drowning. Young Ladnier was known to many throughout the city and was the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Ladnier, who survive him. He also leaves two brothers, Ralph of San Antonio and Pascal of Biloxi. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. tomorrow from the residence, 900 Holley street. Services by Rev. Father Hillebrand of St. Michael's church."
