"Betty Jane, two years old, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Swetman, was killed late yesterday when struck by an automobile driven by Mrs. Geo. Ohr. The child had been living with its grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Swetman, 433 Delauney street. Mrs. Swetman heard the youngster run from the house and quickly toward the street, but fell and stumbled at the curb and thus was unable to save the child, who is said to have darted directly into the path of the automobile and hesitated in front of the machine. The front wheel of the car went over its back, paralyzing the child. The youngster was taken to the hospital in the car which struck it and died about a half an hour after an operation. The father is now employed by the Public Service Co. in New Orleans and reached here late last night. There is one other child, Lloyd Elwin, Jr. Mrs. Swetman was Miss Billie Meyers. The accident occurred near the east end of Swetman's Alley and on the other end of the block little Thomas Taranto was injured by a car several days ago. The funeal will be held this afternoon at 4 o'clock from the Swetman residence. Services will be conducted by Rev. F. A. DeMiller of the Church of the Redeemer and interment will be in the Biloxi cemetery.
