Alton Theodore Washburn, age 66, of Detour, died Wednesday evening April 28, 1971, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Baltimore. He was born in Macomb, NY September 8, 1904, the youngest of 7 children of the late Sylvester and Sarah Brown Washburn.
He was a veteran of World War II, decorated with Philippine's Liberation ribbon with a Bronze Star. He was employed at Castle Farms Cheese Company for 29 years.
He was a member of the Edwin C. Creager American Legion Post, Thurmont.
He was survived by his wife, Frenzie C. Washburn; and the following step-children: Mrs. Doris Williard, Manassas, VA, Mrs. Dorothy Fritz, Westminster, Mrs. Shirly Motter, Westminster; Sgt Robert Dinterman, U.S. Marine Corps, Okinawa.
Also surviving were 15 grandchildren; two brothers, James A. Washburn, San Diego, California, and Alvin Washburn, Gouverneur, NY; and two sisters, Mrs. Ada Mullin, Richville, NY and Mrs. Edna Young, Ogdensburg, N.Y. Interment was in Keysville Cemetery.
