Byron E. Moore, 67, of Seymour, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville.
Memorial services was held Saturday, January 23, 2010 in Seymour, Iowa at the Methodist Church. Cremation Society of Eastern Central Western Iowa is assisting the family.
Byron Earl Moore was born on Aug. 25, 1942 to Andrew and Ruby Rider Moore in Phoenix AZ. He was united in marriage to Linda Rockwood on Aug. 24, 1964 in Salmon, Idaho.
He proudly served 12 years in the US Navy before and during Vietnam. He also served in the Washington Army National Guard for 13 years. He retired from Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, Wash. in 1997. Byron was a volunteer firefighter and EMT in Washington for 10 years and a councilman in Seymour. His hobbies included camping, fishing, and home remodeling.
He is survived by his wife, Linda, of Seymour; son, Byron Lee(Charlene)Moore of Kenai, Ala.; daughter, Melynda Castaneda of Bremerton, Wash.; sister, Dixie(Mrs. Joe)Stanfield, of Marshall, Texas; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Byron was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremated, Location of ashes is unknown.
