CRAFT, John W., Sr., 87, passed away on December 3, 2009 in Phoenix.
He was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and grew up in Corning, Iowa.
John moved to Arizona during World War II to train in the Army Air Corps at Thunderbird Field in Glendale, AZ. He became a B-17 flight instructor at bases in Arizona, including at the Douglas Army Airfield, Western Flight Training Center, and in California, Texas and New Mexico.
After the war, he attended the University of Arizona and met his wife of 62 years, Midge Jacklin Craft.
In 1947, John returned to Glendale to attend the American Institute for Foreign Trade, now the Thunderbird School of Global Management. In 1948, he was in Thunderbird's second graduating class.
Most of John's business career was in sales with National Cash Register Co., now NCR, in Tucson (for 20 years) and Phoenix.
John is survived by his wife, Midge; sons, John W. Craft Jr. and James A. Craft, all now of Phoenix.
John and Midge's beloved daughter, Joy Marie passed away in 1990. He is also survived by five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
There will be a private Memorial Service.
