English-born Actress. She began her career in motion pictures and theater in London. She arrived to the United States in 1938 and starred in Broadway productions, which included Rodgers and Hart’s "The Boys from Syracuse." In the early 1940s at Paramount Studios, she made several films including "The Great McGinty," which is considered a film classic and which won several academy awards. She also appeared in "The Ringer" (1928), "The Wife's Family" (1931), "Blind Spot" (1932) and "Safari" (1940). In New York, she also had a radio program on the NBC Radio Network. In 1946, she married musical director Paul Lavalle. The new of her death was known in August. Services and burial will be private in Harrisonburg.  (bio by: José L Bernabé Tronchoni)
