A 53 year old disabled woman with Asperger's Syndrome died when she desperately tried to catch a bus on her birthday. When the light changed and the bus began moving she lost her footing and fell under the back wheels of the bus.
Judyann did not have bones in her neck and was mentally challenged. In spite of those challenges she had lived independently for the past six years and owned a cat named Epic that she adored.
She had celebrated her birthday on Wednesday with her sister in order to be able to attend her Adult Daycare Program on Thursday. She was a fan of crooner Bobby Vinton and would sing his tunes at family gatherings when she was young. The outside of her apartment door had a Bobby Vinton record attached to it.
She knew all his songs and had seen him several times in concert. But it wasn't just Vinton's songs she knew. Her sister said Lamothe could name a song, its artist and the record after hearing just a few notes.
Robinson said people with Asperger's often have one thing they focus on. For Lamothe, it was music.
For 20 years, she sang every Sunday in the choir at Christ Church United in Lowell.
Music was a lifelong passion, but it was only in recent years that Lamothe began living on her own. Her Mother had just recently died 10 Months ago.
