Michael Joseph McCoy of Clinton Township, Michigan, entered eternal life on Sunday, March 7, 2010. He was 50 years old.

Michael was born on January 31, 1960 in Evansville, Indiana, the son of Donald and Erma (Titzer) McCoy.

Though Michael endured the challenges of cerebral palsy and mental impairment, it certainly didn't deter him from seeking out and capturing the fun and memorable slices of life. In his younger years, when it was possible for his parents to transport him, he so enjoyed the times he got to share with them at church, on family vacations, and especially, the trips to see the Detroit Tigers play. Michael loved sitting outside in the sunshine, and what better way than to watch the "boys of summer" at Tigers Stadium.

Michael was also a lover of music. Whether it was his own singing creations, or that of what his ears could enjoy, music was his pleasure...especially that which came from an accordian. He also loved a good meal, one of his favorites being a dinner comprised of roast beef, mashed potatoes, and gravy, and a delicious hunk of apple pie to top off the exhilerating experience. Another of his favorite treats in the food family came when the McDonald's bags hit the table. Just like us all, he became a kid again each time he got to savor the goodness that a meal from McDonald's provided. Another of Michael's passions was found in his love of clowns and bright colors. The laughter and enjoyment he derived from both was truly realized each time he and his group home friends were entertained by a day at the circus.

Being around people was one of Michael's greatest joys. Not only did his sweet spirit touch their hearts, but his was lifted as well with each visit and memory made. Just this past week, Michael enjoyed the blessing of sharing his 50th birthday celebration with 40 of his family and friends in attendance. Some even came from as far as Indiana to join in the fun. This memory, and so many more, will help to keep Michael close at heart to all those whose lives were impacted by his special soul.

Michael was the beloved son of Donald and Erma McCoy. He was the loving brother of Tammy (David) Kruse, and Donna (Matthew) Bednarczyk. Dear uncle of Luke, Philip, and Danny. Nephew of Susie Rode, and Donald (Carolyn) Titzer.

Visitation: Wednesday March 10, 2010 from 3-9pm, with an 8:15pm Scripture Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd) in Warren. He will lie in state on Thursday from 9:30am until the time of Mass.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial: Thursday March 11, 2010 at 10:00am at St. Clement Catholic Church in Center Line, Michigan.
