AMANDA A. BINGAMAN

Mrs. Amanda A. Bingaman, one of the old settlers in the neighborhood of Columbia, died at the home of her son, John W. Bingaman, in the Oakdale neighborhood, March 16, 1914, aged 80 years, 10 months and 9 days. Death resulted from a complication due to advanced age.

For many years, deceased had been one of the well known women of the Columbia neighborhood. Her parents were John S. and Susannah Collins. She was born in Crawford county, Indiana, May 7, 1833 and was united in marriage with Christian Bingaman September 2, 1852.

To their union ten children were born, eight sons and two daughters, all of whom are still living. The sons are: Henry, John W., William D., Samuel A., D. C., J. F., Isaac A., and Robert B. Bingaman. The daughters are: Louisa S., wife of A. D. Buzzard, now a resident of Oregon, and Miss Rachel A. Bingaman of this county. All reside near the old home except Mrs. Buzzard and Isaac A. Bingaman, both of whom are in Oregon, and D. C. Bingaman, whose home is in Canada.

Deceased joined the Methodist church when a child only 12 years of age and remained firm in the faith until death. At the time of her last sickness she often said that she was trusting in her Redeemer, and was ready and willing to "go home to glory and be always with him.

Besides the children mentioned, she leaves one brother, Rev. W. B. Collins, of Hudson, Michigan.

The funeral services were held at the Oakdale church in Lucas county. Burial in Oakdale cemetery.
