"Mrs. Gertrude Agnes Penton, 34, native of Hattiesburg and Biloxi resident 19 years, died at 2:45 a.m. today at the Biloxi Hospital. She resided at 445 Crawford Street and was the wife of Andrew Penton. She leaves her husband; four sons, Edwin, James O., Larry and Claude, one-day old; two daughters, Margaret and Louise, and two brothers, Bryand and James Barber; five sisters, Mrs. Cora Ryan, Mrs. Noral Kittrell, Mrs. Lillie Yates, Mrs. Hattie Yates and Mrs. Mary cousie. Services will be by the Rev. T. H. Van Dyck, Evangelical Luthern pastor."
Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Records, Book 27, pg 93: Gertrude was 34 years, 5 months, 8 days old when she died at the Biloxi Hospital from post partum hemorrhage and malnutrition pregnancy. Her father was Jim Barber and her mother was Mary Taylor. Her mother was from Al. Gertrude was the wife of Eugene Penton and they lived at 445 Crawford St.
