Mrs. Zoe D. Avery dies in hospital
Mrs. Zoe Donaldson Avery, 78, of 516 Edith Street, former Anaconda resident, died in a local hospital Friday afternoon.
She lived in Anaconda for 39 years and came to Missoula in 1955, when her husband died to reside with her stepson, Earl W. Avery.
Mrs. Avery was born at Grand Island, Neb., March 28, 1881, and came west to Butte with her family. Later, the family moved to Stevensiville, where she attended school.
She received nursing training at Great Fall and Chicago Training School and became a deaconess, then served in th Italian settlement in Seattle.
She was married to Charles E. Avery on August 7, 1916 at Butte, and they resided in Anaconda until he died in 1955.
Survivors besides her stepson include a stepdaughter, Gladys Avery Houston, Florance, Calif., a sister, Cora Donaldson Davis, Missoula, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Services are pending at Squire-Simmons-Carr Mortuary.
