Journalist, Poet, Founder of the Thanksgiving Holiday. She wrote and edited Louis Godey's "Godey's Lady's Book" from 1837 to 1877. She wrote hundreds of articles and poems, including the popular "Mary Had a Little Lamb". During the Civil War she persuaded President Abraham Lincoln to make Thanksgiving a National holiday.
