In 1927 she married Alfredo Codona of the Codona’s Family in Chicago. On Feburary 13, 1931, Lillian had finished the first part of her act on the Roman Rings, and had climbed the web with the swivel and ring for the second half when the swivel snapped. She fell twenty feet to the ground, landing on her back and shoulders. She insisted that she was alright, saying "I can go on.", On Sunday morning, Feburary 15, 1931, the Undisputed Queen of the Aerilists died from a concussion and complications from the fall.
