Carl LaVar Carlson passed away on April 29, 2010. He resided at 5450 South 235 East in Murray, Utah at the time of his death.


He was born May 31, 1913 in Salt Lake City to Carl B. And Geneva Fullmer Carlson. He was the oldest in a family of 9. He was reared and educated in Pleasant Grove, Utah.

He married Fern Powell of Lehi on September 16, 1931 in Lindon, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple September of 1956. They had three children. After 63 years of marriage Fern passed away November 1994. He married Lilly Sanserino November of 1997 and she passed away in 1999. On June 29, 1999 he married Lolene Taylor in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple.

Carl was a High Priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, he served in various callings, such as in the Elder's Quorum Presidency and 7 years in High Priest Group Leadership. He was active in the Orem Senior Citizens Center programs. He was a loving Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather and Great-Great Grandfather.

Survivors include his children: LaRane Cordova of Brigham City, Gilbert Carlson (Leanna) of Salt Lake City, Marilyn Mitchell (Bruce) of Sandy, Utah and his step-daughter Susan Grant. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, 51 great-great grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 11 step great-grandchildren and his sister June Pender. He was preceded in death by Fern and Lilly, his parents, grandson Carl and great-grandchildren Alejandro and Melissa, as well as his 2 brothers and 5 sisters.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cascade Chapel at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street, Orem. Friends may call Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to the funeral services at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
