He lived in San Francisco, California before he moved to Jonestown, Guyana where he lived in Cottage 03. Son of Grace Lucy Stoen and Timothy Oliver Stoen. Rev. James Warren Jones had a custody battle which resulted in losing John Victor to his biological parents which he refused to do. He claimed that John was his son when he was Tim Stoen's son. Grace and Tim divorced. In the meantime, Rev. Jim Jones had illegal custody of John Victor in Jonestown. He was cared for by Maria Katsaris. Regardless, his birth parents were still fighting and winning in the courts but Jones continuously refused to surrender John Victor to parents. He falsely claimed that he was his father to strengthen the argument. The custody of this six-year old boy was one of the many catalysts toward the event on November 18, 1978. After the tragic event, the Stoens were still unable to retrieve their son's remains.
