The people chose him as their representative and sent him to the State Legislature for one term.
Wherever he has been, he has been interested in the cause of education and in our own town has served as trustee and has faithfully filled the office, visiting the school very frequently.
His live work has been mining and he has followed that wherever he has been until he came to Star Valley where he invested in a Ranch. In the mining camps he was brought in contact with the Labor Unions and he has held a number of responsible positions therein.
He was married on the 27th of October, 1872 to Merintha Althera Loveday, and they have been blessed with eleven children, six boys and five girls, all living excepting two, and all are members of the church. There are twenty grandchildren living and six have gone before.
While he has had some serious accidents in the mines, for the last eight years he has suffered with lung trouble which was the cause of his death.
He died last Sunday morning and the funeral was held on Wednesday. His daughter, Mrs Naisbitt with her husband came in to attend.
On Monday Harold Edward Gardner three months old, and grandson of Mr. Blacker died after a severe siege of Pneumonia and the two funerals were held together at the Meeting house.
A large concourse assembled and the house was nicely draped, the singing was excellent, Geo Bruce sang a solo accompanied by his daughter Mabel.
Charles Peterson, Heber F Burton, A.R Moffatt and President Geo.Osmond made eulogistic remarks regarding the life and character of the departed.
