Wood died at 9:11 am. Thursday in Crosbyton Hospital after an illness.
He was born in Becton and married Velma Ruth Reed on Nov. 22, 1945, in Crosbyton. He graduated from Crosbyton High School and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He received a Purple Heart, and he was a heavy machine operator and land improvement contractor until retiring in 1990. He moved to Crosbyton from Idalou in 1935. He was a member of Crosbyton First Baptist Church and the Downtown Bible Class.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Diane Bailey of St. Charles, Mo.; a sister, Sue John Forgus of Crosbyton; and a granddaughter.
