Jennie Elizabeth Deal Wike, 81, a resident of Britthaven Nursing Center in Wilkesboro and formerly of Taylorsville, died Tuesday, December 11, 2001, at Wilkes Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Alexander County November 13, 1920, the daughter of the late Charley D. Deal and Lula Queen Wike Deal. She was educated in the Alexander County Schools and was a homemaker and a lifelong member of Salem Lutheran Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Everette Wayne Wike, in 1986; four brothers, Frank Deal, Wilson Deal, Roy Deal, and Sam Deal; three sisters, Idella Wike, Estelle Deal, and Annabelle Bentley; and a grandaughter, Stephanie Michelle Dunaway.
Survivors include three sons, Wayne Wike and Wife Betty and Johnny Wike and wife Linda, all of Taylorsville, and Kenneth Wike and wife Anita of Wilkesboro; one daughter, Carolyn Peele and husband Jimmy of Daytona, Fla.; one brother, Henley Deal of Taylorsville; one sister, Nora Lou Bowman of Taylorsville; and seven grandchildren; Sharon Renee Wike Warren and husband William Keith Warren, Michael Wayne Wike and wife Melissa Marie Ford Wike, William Eric Dunaway and wife Lenore Fritch Dunaway, Danielle Yvette Dunaway Deets and husband Steve Deets, Melissa Dawn Wike Lail, Adrian Keith Wike, and Ginger Michelle Wike; and five great grandchildren; Ashleigh Elizabeth Warren, Brandon Keith Warren, Dylan Glenn Deets, Amber Rose Gambrell, and Anthony Wyatt Lail.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, December 15, 2001, at Salem Lutheran Church with Rev. Ray Olendorf officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Mrs. Wike's grandsons served as pallbearers.
