|Birth: ||Mar. 16, 1979|
|Death: ||Mar. 19, 2004, Iraq|
Marine Corps Cpl. Vicente was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Twenty-nine Palms, California. Vicente was killed when the Humvee in which he was riding hit a landmine just outside Hit, Iraq. When other kids were wearing T-shirts and jeans, David was wearing fatigues and combat boots – even through high school. He graduated in 1998 from the Greater Lawrence Vocational School in Andover, Massachusetts. He learned to repair heavy equipment like Bobcats and front-end loaders as a student in the school's automotive technical group. Teachers were impressed by the young man – he was a really nice boy, a solid citizen of the school, and the kind of student every teacher likes to have in class. He was excited when he joined the Marines in 2001 and talked about staying in as his career. David loved everything mechanical. He took his truck apart piece by piece, which everyone thought that was the end of it, but it was that truck he drove across the country to report for duty.
