Margaret Reid, 93, formerly of 607 ½ Boone St., died from congestive heart failure June 30, 1997, at the Eastern Star Masonic Home. She had resided at the home since January 1993.
Funeral services are 10a.m. Thursday at the Stark-Welin Chapel with the Rev. Rose Blank officiating. Burial is at Linwood Park Cemetery.
She was born Feb. 16, 1904, in Boone, the daughter of Alfred and Hulda (Nelson) Wilen.
Mrs. Reid graduated from Madrid High School in 1921 and then attended Des Moines University. She taught in rural schools in Boone County before her marriage in 1924 to Jack Reid.
A homemaker, she also worked retail sales at the Boone Blank Book Co,
She was a member of the first united Methodist church, the Order of the Eastern Star Magi chapter 139, White Shrine of Jerusalem, the American Association of Retired persons, the Brush and Palette Club and a former member of the Boone woman's club. Her interests included painting and sewing.
For a number of years, the couple wintered in Mesa, Aria.
Preceding her in death were her husband in 1992, four brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Jackye and Dale Ray of Boone; a grand daughter and her husband Margaretta and Dan Geneser of Clive; a grandson and his wife, Tab and Marge Ray of Waverly; six great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
There was an Eastern Star Memorial.
