Ova Cassidy, 84, R.R. 1, Manilla, died at 5:45 p.m. Monday at the Heritage House Nursing Home in Shelbyville. He was a lifelong farmer in Walker Township.
Born October 31, 1897, he was the son of Charles E. and Elizabeth Hodge Cassidy. He was married to Dora C. Mull August 24, 1922. She survives.
He was a member of the Old Christian Union Church of Homer and the Rush County Farm Bureau.
He is survived by two sons, Hugh Cassidy of R.R. 1, St. Paul, and Charles N. Cassidy, of R.R. 7, Shelbyville; two daughters, Mrs. James (Eleanor) Roebuck of Lafayette and Mrs. Harold (Beverly) Snyder of R.R. 1, Manilla; one sister, Mrs. Carl (Lavonne) Dearinger; 18 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
One brother, Owen [Oren] Cassidy, preceded him in death.
Services will be Thursday, September 9 at the Todd Funeral Home at 2 p.m. with the Rev. William Jenkins officiating. Entombment will be in the East Hill Mausoleum. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
