Family research tells us that John Bilz (28mar1823-08apr1905) was born near Somborn, Germany, to Johannes and Anna Maria [Huth] Bilz. He came to America with his parents and sisters, Magdalena & Maria; arriving in New York 12sep1837 on board the ship JOHANN FRIEDRICH.

In 1850, John & Polly were living in Tuscarawas county, Ohio.
At the time of the 1870 census, John was a 52-year-old cooper, living here in Kosciusko county with his wife Polly, 43, four sons, George, 18, Daniel, 8, Isaac, 7, John, 7, and two daughters, Elizabeth, 15, and Susannah, 13.
Elizabeth married Henry Hoover in 1876.
Susan married John Ritter two years later.
Isaac married Ida Mae Willard in 1888.
Daniel married Frances Willard in 1891.
John married Mary Willard in 1900; they're now buried in North Webster cemetery.
