Charles Lafayeth Chamberlin was the oldest of William and Elizabeth's seven children. He was born on December 18, 1830 in Waterloo, Seneca County, New York. He married Catherine Peters on March 13, 1852 in Cannonsburg, Kent Couty, Michigan. They had 5 known children.
Dr. Chamberlin was one of two early physicians in Cannonsburg. He also owned an apothacary shop. After his wife died in 1882, he attended the Detroit College of Medicine (which later became Wayne State University Medical College), graduating in 1884. He migrated to Minnesota to be near his brother. He was licensed by the State of Minnesota in 1885 and practiced in Belle Plain, Jordan County Minnesota until his death on March 14, 1892. His cause of death is listed as Sciatica and Exhaustion. He is buried near his parents in Oakwood Cemetery.
