A latter day pioneer who arrived in Anchorage in 1947, he was appointed City Clerk and served in that capacity until 1972. He served under eleven Mayors and eight City Managers, making his mark as the most dedicated City Employee. Honored by several mayors as one of the stalwarts of city government, Ben Boeke Ice Arena is named in his honor.
