Emily came across from the old country to the US when she was 6 with her parents in 1855 and settled near Huntington, WV. She was born in Saxony, Sachsen, Germany.

She married John Enoch Bohm, son of George & Barbara Hecker Bohm May 10, 1867 in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, OH. and came west to Appanoose County, IA.

From this marriage were seven children:

Mary Elizabeth (Levi Thomas Murphy),
Anna Louise (John Herbert McNair),
Sarah Magdalene (William Westley Hiner),
Minnie Ellen (Robert Bevly Smith),
Ida Jane (Harvey Brandon),
and sons
Frank Henry (Zetta Gibson),
Joseph Theodore (Mable Youngker).
