Mrs. Della D. Briggs, 79, formerly of 1025 Mifflin Street, Huntingdon, and recently a guest of the Valley View Nursing, Belleville, died at the nursing home at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, February 26, 1971. She was born May 31, 1891 in Juniata Township, Huntingdon County, a daughter of J. Watson and Annie (Prough) Dean. She was married to Robert M. Briggs who is deceased. Surviving are the following children: Mrs. Alex (Anna) Fowler, Pitcairn; Mrs. James (Ruth) Newcomb, Huntingdon; Mrs. Marshall (Helen) Showalter, Huntingdon, and Richard P. Briggs, Orbisonia. Ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren survive. Two children, Robert W. Briggs and Mrs. Dorothy Corbin preceded her in death. The deceased was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She had been a member of the Fifteenth Street United Methodist Church, Huntingdon and the Confer Sunday School class. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 1 at 2 p.m. from the Peters funeral home, Huntingdon. Interment will be made in the Riverview Cemetery with the Rev. Rayvon Hlliard, her pastor, officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 until 9 p.m. on Sunday.
