Note: The Thomas Callen family left Tennessee during 1842 to seek a new life for themselves in the Ozark Region of Northwest Arkansas. They were the early pioneers of Carroll County. It has been stated in the book titled Carroll County Families - These Were The First, Thomas Callen was appointed as the Carroll County Treasurer in 1845 when E. Ford resigned and was elected to a two - year term of his own during 1846 but did not live out his term. He was seventy - six years old when he died and was buried in Oak Hill (Riddle) (Leather) Cemetery in Carroll County.
