Azaria Chantel Loren Chamberlain
Birth: Jun. 11, 1980
Queensland, Australia
Death: Aug. 17, 1980, Australia

Wild animal victim. Her death shocked many people and brought attention to the rampant dingo population, leading to several appeals to start culling the dingo growth. She was taken from her family's tent by a wild dingo at nine weeks old during a camping trip to Ayers Rock, Australia. Her mother was convicted for her murder despite flawed evidence and police proceedings which ended up being proven by the courts. Her father was convicted of being an accessory and sentenced to eighteen months imprisonnment but the sentence was suspended so he could care for their surviving children. In 1986 the matinee jacket she was wearing the night she was taken was found in a dingo lair and secured her mother's innocence and the conviction was overturned in 1988. She was survived by two older brothers and a little sister. She never had a funeral and her body was never found. Her story is told in the Oscar nominated and multiple award winning movie 'A Cry in the Dark'.
