Richard L. "Dick" Goodman, 68, of Newton died Tuesday, May 4, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. Cremation will follow the service. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home where the family will be available from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to the American Lung Association and may be left at the funeral home.
The son of Everett E. and Helen (Foubert) Goodman, he was born April 6, 1936, in Millersburg. He was a lifelong resident of Newton except for the time he spent in the military. He served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force. He began his military career in 1955 and served for more than 20 years.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Tanya Goodman of Ames; a daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Robert Hughes of Newton; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Terry Goodman of Costa Rica and Denny and Mary Goodman of Kansas City, Kan.
