Mrs. Mable Burns, age 85, wife Floyd J. Burns, died in Amsterdam. Born in Georgetown, N.Y.
Mrs. Mable Burns, 85, wife of Floyd R. Burns, 63 Lincoln Ave., died at 9:10 p.m. Wednesday at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient for four days. Mrs. Burns had taught and served as principal of the former Arnold Avenue School for many years before retiring.
She was born in Georgetown July 31, 1885, the daughter of George R. and Elizabeth Austin Brown. She was married to Mr. Burns Aug. 28, 1918.
Mrs. Burns was a member of the Century Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, the Montgomery County Historical Society and the New York State Retired Teachers' Association.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a sister, Mrs. Ward Evans of Georgetown, nieces and nephews.
