Services for Daniel Edwin Burns of McComb, formerly of Bogue Chitto, will be held Monday, March 14th at 10 a.m. at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapel in Brookhaven with burial at Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery in Bogue Chitto.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 13th, from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m., and Monday, March 14th, from 8 a.m. until service time at Riverwood Family Funeral Service.
Mr. Burns, 32, died March 12th at his residence. Mr. Burns was born March 29, 1972 to Don Keith Burns of Brookhaven and Diann Burt Flake of Bogue Chitto.
Mr. Burns was preceded in death by his grandparents, the Rev. Edwin Burns, Mrs. Aileen Raiford Burns, and Mrs. Beatrice "Bea" Burt.
Mr. Burns is survived by his parents; his loving wife, Melissa Roberts Burns of McComb; his sons, Jonathan Paul Burns of Virginia Beach, Va., and Benton Blayze Burns of McComb; his stepsons, Cameron Blaine Roberts and Nicholis Brice Roberts of McComb; his brother and sister-in-law, David and Athena Burns of Bogue Chitto; his grandparents, Benton and Virginia Burt of Brookhaven; his step-parents, Nancy Burns of Brookhaven and David Flake of Bogue Chitto; his father and mother-in-law, David and Elaine Bailey of McComb; his brother-in-law, David Bailey of Flora; his nephews, Keith Burns of Bogue Chitto, Paul Bailey of Flora, Kris Bailey of McComb, and Will Brantley of Florence; his nieces, Eden Bailey of Bogue Chitto and Emily Grace Bailey of Flora; a host of other relatives; and many special friends.
Mr. Burns attended Enterprise and Bogue Chitto schools, where he played baseball, football and basketball, and Copiah-Lincoln Community College. He also served as assistant baseball coach at Brookhaven Academy and Bogue Chitto schools.
Mr. Burns was employed for 15 years with Pickering/Engineering and Associates as a surveyor and road and bridge construction inspector.
Services will be conducted by Bro. Hal Hatten, Bro. Herbert Savelle, and Bro. Emon White.
Pallbearers will be Brad Martin, Chris Copallon, Joe Dan Leggett, Chris Weekley, Mike Dunaway, John Bartrom, Ron Rushing, and John Nobles. Honorary pallbearers will be Shawn Hanks, Randy Emfinger, Scott Leggett, and James Barker.
