Leland "Ray" McCuen was born the son of Clarence Charles and Elsie (Pierson) McCuen on August 22, 1936 in Clarinda, Iowa, and entered into rest at Alegent Health Mercy Hospital on February 11, 1997 at the age of 60 years 5 months and 19 days.
He lived in Nodaway most of his childhood and attended the Nodaway School. On August 22, 1956, Ray was united in marriage with Cleo Inman in Nodaway, Iowa. Two children, Leland Leroy and Lucille Verda were born to bless this union.
They made their home in Adams, Montgomery and Fremont Counties. ray worked as a farm hand for various farmers for the first eleven years of their marriage. They began farming on their own north of Corning.
Ray enjoyed auctions, and hunting and fishing with his family. He loved square dancing, and playing cards with his many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Charles McCuen Sr.
Ray is survived by his wife Cleo and his son Leroy and his wife Debbie, all of Corning, Iowa; his daughter Lucille at the Shelby County Care Center in Shelby, Iowa; three grandchildren, Brooke Anne, Blaire Lynne, and Brant Alan; his mother, Elsie Lawson of Corning; two sisters, Elsie mae Albright of Holden, Missouri, and Arlene Irene Raines of Hepburn, Iowa; three brothers, Cecil Earl and his wife Anna of Villisca, Iowa, Clarence Charles Jr. of Stanton, Iowa, and Kenneth Wayne and his wife Monica of Nodaway, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
