|Birth: ||Mar. 1, 1813|
|Death: ||Mar. 14, 1893|
Son of Benjamin Chubick the 3rd and Bathsheba Harvey.
He was returning by train to Iowa from a trip to see relatives in California when he fell from the train. The injuries killed him.
He was married 3 times to Lettie Lutton, Martha Dunkle, and Virginia Parmenter.
He owned land in Jewell County Kansas from approx. 1882 thru 1890.
Frederick first married Letitia "Lettie" Lutton about 1835 in Washington Co., PA. Lettie was the eldest of five known children born to James and Sarah (Piper) Lutton. She was born about 1814 in North Strabane township, Washington Co., PA on the farm where her father had settled some time about 1811 after coming to the area as a young man from Cecil Co., MD. The Lutton family farm was situated next to the land where the Chubbics settled and both families were members of the Chartiers Hill Presbyterian church. Some time during their marriage, Lettie and Frederick moved to Hopewell township where it is presumed they farmed. It was there that Lettie died at the age of thirty-three on 14 February 1847, six months after giving birth to her youngest child. She is buried in the Upper Buffalo Presbyterian church cemetery in Hopewell township.
Lettie and Frederick had the following children:
1. James Chubbic
2. Isabelle "Belle" Chubbic
3. Robert L. "Bob" Chubbic
4. Sarah Ann Chubbic
5. Elizabeth Jane "Lizzie" Chubbic
The youngest child, Elizabeth, who was an infant when her mother died, was taken in and raised by her maternal grandmother, Sarah Lutton. The other children remained with their father.
Frederick next married Mrs. Martha Dunkel sometime about 1847 in Hopewell township, Washington Co., PA. who came to the marriage with three children of her own from her one, and perhaps two, previous marriages: Nancy Dunkel b. about 1841, Thomas Dunkel b. about 1843, and John Riley b. about 1846. It is not known for sure if John Riley was Martha's adopted son or a son from a short-lived marriage to a man named Riley. Martha was born 1 April 1813 in PA and died 20 December 1887 in Douglas township, Polk Co., IA where she is buried at Greenwood cemetery.
Frederick and Martha went on to have at least three children: Lettie Chubbic b. about 1848, Benjamin Chubbic b. 7 September 1850, and Mary Margaret Chubbic b. 9 November 1852. Some time about 1865, just after the Civil War, the family "sojourned in the south", reportedly stopping for a time in Nashville, Tennessee, and finally settling on a farm in Douglas township, Polk Co., IA by 1870. Frederick was said to have farmed some land in Jewell Co., KS between 1882 and 1890, returning to Polk Co., IA at that time, but no records have been found so far to confirm this.
Frederick married a third time to Virginia Parmenter in Polk Co., IA on 8 July 1889. He died on 14 March 1893 in Bondurant, Polk Co., IA. According to his descendants, he died from injuries sustained in a fall from the train on which he was returning to Iowa from visiting relatives in California. His last will and testament was probated in Polk Co., IA on 28 April 1892 and his sister Belle McGlaughlin was appointed administrator. Frederick is buried at Greenwood cemetery in Douglas township, Polk Co., Iowa.
