DANSVILLE - William J. Cantillon, 74, of Perry's Way, Dansville passed away early Friday morning, March 2, 2001 after being transferred from McCauley Manor in Hornell.
Bill was born in Brooklyn on March 12, 1926, the son of the late William J. and May Keene Cantillon. On Dec. 28, 1974, he was married to the former Edna Hasselwander Cantillon, who survives.

Bill was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran. He was the shop coordinator at Shay's Service in Dansville for many years, retiring in 1991. He was a member and Past Commander of the Daniel Goho Post #87 of The American Legion and a member of St. Joseph's St Vincent de Paul Society.

Surviving in addition to his devoted wife Edna are several beloved nieces: Joy Moody, Terri (Barrie) Gorman. Nancy (Cecil) Kuwabara, Beth Gerhardt, Barbara (Arthur) Tomlinson and Regina (Jerry) Thorpe; and a brother-in-law, the Rev. Albert W. Gerhardt.

Friends called Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hindle Funeral Home, 271 Main St., Dansville. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Wayland. Interment was in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Rochester. A Legion prayer service was held at 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. A Rosary service was held Monday at 3:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
