Thomas R. “Bob” Spafford, 72, of Saunemin, passed away Friday, September 05, 2014 at 3:20 a.m. at OSF St. James John W. Albrecht Medical Center in Pontiac.

His service will be held Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Saunemin United Methodist Church in Saunemin, IL. Pastor Jane Bradford will officiate. Burial will be at Sunny Slope Cemetery in Saunemin.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 9, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Saunemin United Methodist Church in Saunemin.

Bob was born September 25, 1941 in Pontiac, son of Thomas L. and Beatrice (Knuckles) Spafford. He married Virginia Marie Allen on February 3, 1961 in Saunemin. She survives in Saunemin.

Also surviving are two sons, Michael R. Spafford of Raleigh, NC and Mark A. (Kim) Spafford of Pontiac, IL; one daughter, Deborah A. (Gregg) Velatini of Suwanee, GA; two brothers, James (Mary) Spafford of Santa Maria, CA and Charles (Leah) Spafford of Fairbury, IL; one sister, Mary Keister of Pontiac, IL; and four grandchildren, Ashley Spafford, Luke Spafford, Nicholas Velatini, and Lydia Velatini.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Bob was a graduate of Saunemin High School, Class of 1959. He was Owner/Operator of Spafford Texico in Saunemin and of Spafford Travel Trailers. He also farmed in the Saunemin area. Bob was a member of Saunemin United Methodist Church, the Sunshine Quartet, and the Illinois Mayflower Society.

Memorials may be made to Saunemin Fire Department and Livingston County Humane Society.
