Biloxi - Clarence "Kenny" Harder, 83, a well-known musician and lifelong resident of Biloxi, died Thursday morning March 11, 1999, in Biloxi

He served in the Navy during World War II playing first chair saxophone while stationed in Australia. After the war he played with Eddie Carron's Big Band during the swing era. A few years later he formed his own band combo playing such places as Amvets, the VFW, American Legion and numerous nightclubs and dance halls along the Gulf Coast. He was a gifted, multi-talented musician mastering the clarinet playing songs in the "Pete Fountain" style. He also played the trumpet and sang like Louis Armstrong.

He built his own one-man band and toured the Atlantic Coast playing for Mobile Home Brokers. His last 12 years he played at the Sugar Mill Restaurant Lounge with the Art De'Orio Band.

He was a colorful character always friendly and jovial telling jokes and entertaining his audience always. He will be missed by all!
