Born in Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late Ambrose and Eva (Pariseau) Houston. She was formerly known as Sister Mary Arsenius. She entered the Sisters of Mercy on Sept. 8, 1932, and was professed March 12, 1935.
Sister was involved from 1936 to 1962 in community services at Mercy Home in Newport, Mount St. Rita Convent in Cumberland, St. John the Baptist Convent in New Bedford, Mount St. Mary Convent in Fall River, and St. Aloysius Home in Greenville. She was assigned to St. Vincent Home in Fall River, as a child-care conselor, from 1962 until she retired to St. Mary Convent, Bay View, in 1994.
She leaves two sisters, M. Monice Houston, RSM, of Riverside and Marjorie H. Harker of Cumberland, and five nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Lillian Houston, RSM, and William and Peter Houston.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Convent Chapel, Pawtucket Avenue. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.
