Leo William Rich, 69, who served in the Marine Corps for 30 years before retiring as a captain in 1961, died of cancer July 5 at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He lived in Triangle, Va.
Mr. Rich was born in Greensboro, N.C., and moved to this area in 1957.
He enlisted in the Corps in 1931. He served in the Pacific during World War II, and in Korea during the conflict there. His decorations included the Purple Heart.
Mr. Rich was a Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite. He also was a member of the National Sojourners and the Marine Corps League.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel, of Triangle; his father, William, and a brother, Clay, both of Greensboro.
