Raymond was born and raised in Chicago,the
only son of John and Mary Michalowski.
He attended Schurz High School,but dropped
out to join the Marines at the age of 17.
He enlisted in the Marines 5 January 1967,at
the Chicago Recruiting Office.He took his boot
camp training at the San Diego MCRD.
Arriving in Vietnam 25 September 1967,he
was assigned to Kilo Company,3rd Battalion,
5th Marine Regiment,1st Marine Division.
Raymond died as a result of a gunshot wound
to the body from enemy rifle fire,while on a
combat patrol sweep on Highway QL1,5 kilo-
meters north northwest of Dien Ban.
Raymond was single and served his country for
1 year and 18 days.KIA#21,232.
He had been in Vietnam for 4 months and 8 days.
Raymond was 18 years,7 months and 8 days
Funeral Services were conducted by the
Stanley Funeral Home.
Survived by his mother;Adeline Swider
Michalowski and his sister;Maryann of 3238 N
Drake Ave,Chicago,IL.His grandmother;Mary
Swider of Chicago.
His father;John Michalowski,address unknown.
