Joe H. Ayres, prominent Atlanta farmer, died Sunday, September 7, at his home.
Funeral services were held last Wednesday at the Atlanta Methodist Church with Rev. Lowell Drake and Rev. J.T. Quigley in charge. Interment was in the La Plata cemetery.
He was born January 27, 1891 and died September 7 in the home where he was born. He had spent his entire life as a farmer in the Atlanta community. He was graduated from Atlanta High School and attended Missouri Weslayan College.
On October 10, 1918 he was married to Lyda Simpson and to this union three children were born.
He was a member of the Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star. For many years he was director of the Farmers Mutual Insurance Company in Macon.
He is survived by his wife and children, Miss Martha Ayers of Washington, D.C., Mrs. Dean (Amy)Roseberry of Kirksville and Joe G. Ayers of Naperville, Illinois; six grandchildren; three brothers, Harry E. Ayers of Lincoln, Nebraska, W.E. Ayers of Tucson, Arizona and J.W. Ayers of La Plata and a number of nieces and nephews.
