OAKLEY R. MOENCH
Oakley R. Moench, 83 of Valparaiso, passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2009, at his home.
He was born December 14, 1925 in Xenia, IL, the son of William and Helen (Radatz) Moench.
Oakley was a carpenter for 50 years and owned Moench Construction. He was a WWII Army Veteran, a survivor of the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded The Purple Heart.
On December 31, 1946 in Kouts, he married Marilyn "Ruth Ann" Hayes, who survives in Valparaiso. Also surviving is a daughter, Sally (James) Redar of Valparaiso; two sons: Gene (Angela) Moench of Valparaiso and James (Monique) Moench of Benicia, CA; eight grand children: Cameron (Shawna) Moench, Daniel Moench, Katherine Moench, Kassandra Moench, Brian (Amy) Redar, Jason (Jama) Redar, Michelle Christle and Sarah Christle and four great grandchildren: Elizabeth, Aidan, Noah and Owen.
Preceding him in death are a daughter, Donna Moench; his parents; a brother, Ernest Moench and a sister, Adaline Shurr.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 11:30AM at Bartholomew Funeral Home, Rev. Craig Forwalter officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Valparaiso. Visitation will be held Friday, 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Bartholomew Funeral Home, 102 Monroe St. Valparaiso. Memorial Donations may be made to the Porter County V.N.A.
