YOAKUM --Oliver Chandler Taylor, 77, of Yoakum, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 1999.

He was born Aug. 23, 1922, in Yoakum, to the late Julius Monroe and Ada Alice Chandler Taylor. He was a retired engineer for Southern Pacific Railroad, having served over 40 years. Mr. Taylor served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the American Legion. He was a Baptist.

Survivors: wife; two daughters; and three grandchildren. [Note: Edited to remove the names of the living]

Preceded in death by: sister, Gaynell Walcik; brother, Louis Taylor; and grandson, Joshua Philip Worden.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Buffington Funeral Home chapel, the Rev. Richard Bowden officiating.

Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery. Buffington Funeral Home, Yoakum, 293-2333.
