AYERS, Robert Layton. The Pulaski (Tennessee) Citizen 17 Jun 1964.
Funeral services for Robert Layton Ayers, 45, salesman for Vernon Manufacturing Company for the past eighteen months, were held Monday afternoon in First Christian Church, Abilene, Texas, where he was a member. The body was shipped to Newton, Iowa, with funeral services held Thursday, followed by military burial rites.
Mr. Ayers died Saturday, June 13, at Hendricks Hospital in Abilene after an illness of four months.
Born November 17, 1918, in Giles County, he was the son of the late Joseph Ayers and Sullie Worley Ayers. A veteran of WWII; in 1951, he went to Newton, Iowa where he was personnel manager of the Maytag Manufacturing Company. Eighteen months ago he accepted the salesmanship position, moving to Abilene.
Mr. Ayers is survived by his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Mier Ayers; two daughters, Diana and Janita; and two sons, Robert Simon and Joseph Walter Ayers; one brother, Grady Ayers, Mooresville, Tenn.; and one sister, Mrs. John Britton, Pulaski.
