Nancy "Nannie" Pitt was the daughter of John Newton Pitt (1847-1924) and Frances Elizabeth Savage Pitt (1847-1914). The Pitt Family ran a distillery in Robertson County Tennessee. In February of 1880, Nannie married Alonzo "Lon" Cole Pitt (1856-1909). They were the parents of one daughter, Cora Bell Pitt Forbes (1880-1965). After Lon Pitt died in 1909, Nannie Pitt married R.I. White (1854-1924) in 1918. After Mr. White's death, Nannie Pitt remained in the Pitt Home until 1937, when she moved to Ardmore, Tennessee to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Eliphas Cowan Forbes. Nannie Pitt died in the Forbes home on April 11, 1940.
In 1973, the Pitt Distillery and Pitt Home in Springfield, Tennessee were inducted into the National Register of Historic Places.
