Vietnam Veteran. McClure Thackerson and I share the same home state of North Carolina. Although we grew up not many miles apart, I did not know him. Yesterday I stopped at the North Carolina Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall on I-85 near Greensboro. I located his name and thought about his sacrifice to our country over 34 years ago. I served in Vietnam the same time that he did. I came home alive and he did not. He is buried in Rose Hill Memorial Park in Fallston, NC, my hometown. May God bless this Hero and his family. He gave his life in service to his country. Marvin D. McCurry, [email protected].

Brother. One who loved his country. My Brother had spent four years in the army and than came home and after a short period of time decided to go back into the army. After going back he volunteered to go to Vietnam because of the type war it was, and he wanted to be able to help out. I received letters from him and how bad the war was, and for all of the heroes who gave their lives for our country and for the ones who did make it back home to people who spit on them and made them look like the enemy. I am proud of my brother and all of the men and women. GOD BLESS AMERICA. Jesse W. Thackerson, 1501 E. Marion St, Shelby, N.C. 28150 Cleveland, [email protected].

He is the Son of Mr David Thackerson and Mrs Milly McNealy Thackerson. He was the husband of Mrs Rebecca A Thackerson, 1611 11th Avenue SW, Hickory, NC.

He served with Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division,(AMBL).

He was awarded The Combat Infantryman's Badge(CIB), The Air Medal with Multiple Devices, The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, the Vietnam Service Medal, The Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, The National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
