Annie Strobl, the daughter of Vaclar and Anna Remus Strobl, was born July 16, 1908 at Red Cloud, Nebraska. She departed this life on Wednesday, September 25, 1991 at the Webster County Hospital in Red Cloud at the age of 83 years, 2 months and 9 days. (NOTE: Annie Strobl's parents' name on her marriage license lists her father as Vencil Maruska and her mother as Anna Ptocnik both born in Bohemia. Annie is listed as Annie Maruska.)

Annie was a lifelong resident of Webster County. She grew up in the Batin Township north of Red Cloud and received her formal education attending District No. 27. On April 12, 1928 she ws united in marriage with Rudolf Thomas Strobl at Red Cloud. They made their home on the farm north of Red Cloud until 1977, when they retired and moved into town to live. Mr. Strobl passed away on June 5, 1991.

In her leisure time, she enjoyed quilting, craft work, dolls and cooking for her family. Her greatest love and enthusiasm in life was for her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rudolf; four brothers, Vencil, Joseph, Frank and Jerry Maruska and a sister, Fannie Kempkes.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Donald and wife Sharon Strobl of Nelson, Nebraska; three grandchildren Kathy Michels and husband Leon; Allan Strobl and wife Stephanie and Ronald Strobl and wife Lara; three great-grandchildren Jeremiah, Meggie Joe and Jordan Michels; four sisters Marie Sgro of Hastings, Nebraska; Josephine Young and husband Clifford of Superior, Nebraska; Bessie Fetsch of Liberal, Kansas and Mildred Horton and husband Melvin of Kearney, Nebraska; other relatives and her many friends.

Memorial services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 28, 1991 from the Simonson-Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Red Cloud with Mr. Bill Fogg officiating. Sue McNeil sang "Life Without End--At Last!", accompanied by Betty Rasser organist. Arrangements were under the direction of the Simonson-Williams Funeral Home.
