William Augustus Blount. 4 children: Luther, born in Georgia and served in the Confederate Army (Gen Walker's Division), Fannie A., Sarah Lucy and Camilla were born in Alabama. The family moved to Texas and settled in Red Top, a community located between Shiro and Walker County line and had 7 more children born in Texas: Susan E., Elizabeth H., Andrew H., Texanna H., Araminta L., Georgia and William P.

William's father was Dr. William Augustus Blount, one of the 3 brothers who came to America around 1660. These 3 brothers were sons of Sir Walter Blount of Sodington, Worcestershire, England. Thomas, James and John first settled in Isle of Wight County, Virginia.

Thomas and James moved south to Chowan Precinct, NC in 1669. John remained in VA. In 1673, Thomas moved further south and thought to have settled on the Tar or Pamlico River about 1673. Thomas had 6 sons: Jacob and Esaw (twins) Thomas II (married Ann Reading), Jacob (b; 1752-1833) married Barbara Gray of Bertie, second wife, Hannah Salter Baker. Jacob was also an officer in the Revolutionary War serving under Governor Tryon in the battle of Alamance. John Gray Blount (1752-1833) was a companion of Daniel Boone in his explorations of KY but settled in Washington, NC. He married Mary Harvey in 1778, she was the daughter of Colonel Miles Harvey of Perquimans. Some of the other Blounts settled around Nacogdoches, TX.

William Blount married Mary Jane Rollins Kerr in 1871 after Sarah's death. They had 3 children. James Elson Templeton Blount b. 1872, Charlie Blount b. 1874, Clara Blount b. 1877. (Provided by Emma Jones)
