He was tall with blue eyes and light hair. He also suffered from rheumatism.
His name is engraved on the plaque honoring WWI Cleveland Countians who gave their lives in the "War to end all Wars". This plaque is affixed to the west side of the historic court house in the center of Shelby, NC.
Calvin was a son of David Doke & Sally Bumgardner Cook and is buried beside his parents at Olive Grove.
